Morrie’s at the North American International Auto Show | Day 2

Today was the second press day at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and we were busy getting live coverage to share with you! We finally got the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the hottest new vehicles from all over the world. Make sure to check out our photo album below and our YouTube playlist with tons of model overview videos!

Our first stop this morning was the Subaru press conference where they unveiled the highly anticipated 2015 Subaru WRX STi. This Rally bred sports sedan features a 2.5 Liter Boxer Four cylinder, producing 300 horsepower and 290 lbs/ft. of torque. Subaru promises more speed, better handling, tighter suspension and a high-performance braking system. We know our Subaru fans are just as excited as we are about this one, but sit tight, we don’t expect to see one on show floors until next year!

Following the Subaru press conference, we hightailed it over to Cadillac where they were unveiling the 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe! The ATS coupe is the brand’s first compact two-door coupe yet and it did not disappoint. As you would expect, the ATS coupe shares the same wheelbase and platform as the ATS sedan, but with a widened track in the front and rear and an aluminum construction making it the lightest car in its segment. You could feel the excitement in the crowd as Cadillac entertained us with a youthful and upbeat reveal for this hot new coupe. Exterior changes to the ATS coupe include a wider, more aggressive looking grille, and a brand new crest! The new Cadillac crest has only been worn on one other non-production model, the El miraj concept before being unveiled on the ATS coupe today. Cadillac explained the new crest as representing the the purity of Cadillac and the new lower, leaner, meaner design. The ATS coupe is powered by an increased 2.0 liter turbocharged four or a 3.6 liter V6, available in rear wheel or all-wheel drive, as well as a 6-speed manual option. Keep your eye out for the ATS Coupe on Morrie’s Cadillac show floors!

Although previously revealed during an online debut, the 2015 Cadillac Escalade still created a lot of buzz at this year’s auto show in Detroit. This was the first time we were able to get an up close look at the vehicle so make sure to check out our photos in the album below.

Nissan brought two Idx concept vehicles to the North American International Auto Show this year and we made sure to get plenty of coverage as these concepts are tailored to both the new millennials and avid car enthusiasts alike due to the Datsun inspired designs. The IDX Freeflow is a four seater concept featuring a floating glass roof, 18-inch chrome wheels  and a denim-inspired interior.

The IDX Nismo on the other hand is much sportier due to its Brock Racing paint scheme and 1.6 turbo engine. The  alcantara interior and racing style gauge-clusters also gives the vehicle that added sportier look.

Nissan also brought out their Sports Sedan Concept which is a sneak peek at the company’s future design language. We have a sneaking suspicion that this Sports Sedan Concept will be the future direction of the Maxima. This concept is said to deliver more than 300 horsepower and we hope to see a CVT transmission driving the front wheels.

as you are all aware, KIA is known for their youthful brand image and their new and different vehicle designs. Once again, they didn’t disappoint us with their press conference. Here to unveil the Kia GT4 Stinger concept was the “Kia 6,” the design team responsible for the vision of this new concept vehicle.

The GT4 is Inspired by the performance of the turbocharged Optima’s that raced in the World Challenge series and delivers lightweight power and direct steering. This two door six-speed manual features a 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder engine that achieves 350 horsepower! 15-inch Brembo brakes make stopping this low sleek concept no problem at all. The kicker? The only sound you will be listening to in this vehicle is the roaring engine, as the car doesn’t even have a radio!

Ford stole the show when they unveiled the 2015 F-150 in Detroit Monday morning. They celebrated the 13th generation F150 by shedding 700 lbs off of its curb weight, this is not only impressive but saves a tons of money at the pump. The decreased weight on the vehicle is due to the all aluminum body on the truck, similar to what we saw on the Ford Atlas concept. Ford also displayed a 1965 vintage Mustang and the all-new 2015 Mustang that was recently revealed, to show the 50 years of this iconic vehicle.

The all-new Hyundai Genesis was also unveiled this week in Detroit and it received interior, exterior and performance updates throughout. Chevron-inspired taillights and the fluid look of the redesign really bring out the luxury feel that Hyundai was going for. They also had the 2015 3.8 Liter GDI Hyundai Genesis HTRAC Cut-Away Vehicle on display to give spectators a peek inside.

We couldn’t leave the Detroit without checking to see what some of the other brands have to offer and we were quite impressed! Other hot vehicles that caught our eye included the BMW M3, the all-new VW Golf R and a Volkswagen Beetle concept, the Honda FCEV concept, the Mercedes GLA 45 MG and the all-new Audi A3 Convertible. Make sure to head over to our YouTube page and check out all the videos from this years North American International Auto Show in Detroit!
