The 2014 Chicago Auto Show: Recap

If you frequent the Morrie’s blog often you probably know that we have been traveling to the major auto shows to get live coverage of all the latest debuts. We didn’t make it out to the Chicago Auto show this year but we didn’t want to let it pass by without giving you a recap of all the hottest unveiling a from some of the brands that we carry here at Morrie’s.

We were very excited to hear that Kia debuted their much anticipated first battery-electric vehicle sold In the US, the 2015 Kia Soul EV! The Soul EV is equipped with a 27 kW-hour battery pack that will allow for more miles of range than the competition. Despite being an electric vehicle, the EV doesn’t look bad under the hood. A 109 horsepower electric motor will deliver around 400 lb/ft of torque. The quick charge port, located in table the front bumper, provides accessibility when drivers need to easily plug-in. We look forward to having our first electric Kia here at Morrie’s!

Another exciting debut was the unveiling of the 2015 Subaru Legacy! The beautiful new Subaru was redesigned with more space on the interior and added luxury features to give drivers added comfort. The 2015 model will be longer, wider and lower than its predecessor. Two available engine options, a 2.4-liter flat four, or 3.6-liter flat six produce 175 horsepower and 174 lb/ft of torque where the 3.6 liter produces 256 horsepower and 247 lb/ft of torque. Technology systems in the car include a 6.2 inch touch screen infotainment system with a larger display, text messaging abilities,satellite radio, dual USB ports, iTunes tagging and ambient interior lighting. Available features on the 2015 Legacy include the Eyesight Camera Safety system, blind spot monitoring and navigation. Look for the 2015 Subaru Legacy on sale at Morrie’s this summer!

Hyundai also debuted their Veloster RE:Flex edition in Chicago as a follow up to the RE:MIX Veloster that they introduced at SEMA in 2012. The RE:Flex edition features 18-inch chrome wheels and multiple chrome accents on the exterior of the vehicle. This special edition model will only be available not he base Veloster model which features a 1.6 liter engine and a 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Exterior color choices include Boston Red, Ultra black! Vitamin C, Century White and Ice Pearl. Drivers can also choose from a either black or red leather interior. Will you be one of the lucky 3,000 buyers to get their hands on this limited production, special edition Veloster? We hope so!

Lincoln also brought their updated Navigator to the show wearing bigger wheels and a 3.5 Liter Ecoboost engine to replace the V8. Though the redesign wasn’t drastic, we are really looking forward to seeing the updated Navigator on our show floor at Morrie’s Minnetonka Ford Lincoln soon!
