The Great Northern – January 27th – Feb. 5th
The Great Northern is a grouping of events between Minneapolis and St. Paul to showcase the very best of the Twin Cities during the wintery months. “We believe in being out in it. The cold. The ice. The snow. The flurries and drifts and whiteouts and whatnot — all of it. We believe in layering up. Bundling up. Wearing big coats, big boots and even bigger hats.” We believe in ice skates, snow skis and snowshoes. We believe in seeing our breath, subzero temps and icicles as big as hockey sticks.”
Central Park of Maple Grove – Now – March (or until it melts)
We can all agree that once you’ve skated around one hockey rink you’ve skated around them all, right? Well, now in Maple Grove you can skate around an LED lit and refrigerated ice loop that is 810 feet long! Skating is free and rentals are also available on-site. Additionally, the Phenow Pavilion offers restrooms, concessions, boot cubbies, and a cozy fireplace for chilly evenings.

You can grab an “adult beverage” and wander around checking out all the animals up close – without having to worry about tripping over little Timmy and his friends!
