A Chicago Road Trip – Mercedes-Benz GLC

Adam’s Thoughts: When someone says, “Would you like to drive to Chicago for the auto show and take a Mercedes-Benz?” You immediately say yes, and then before I knew it we were on our way to Chicago. Mercedes-Benz of St. Paul lent us a 2019 GLC 300 4Matic which I already had reserved for an upcoming trip to Austin, so I was excited. I get some seat time in a brand new Mercedes twice in the next two months! My job is sometimes awesome and this was another example of how great working for Morrie’s has been.

This was about 3 hours into our drive

I liked the GLC as a mid-sized crossover. We had tons of gear, snacks, 4 people on the way back and I never found myself needing more space. I did quite a bit of driving and that’s the place to be. A heated steering wheel and seats were great for our 7+ hour road trip to Chicago.

The fuel economy blew me away and checking my “bonus miles” was something I did about every 45 mins. Cruising down the highway, getting excellent mileage, and racking up something like 120 bonus miles was perfect. I’m even more excited now for my next time behind the wheel of the GLC!

Derek’s Thoughts: Admittedly I didn’t do a whole lot of driving on this trip, so I can’t dive too far into that. That being said I spent a lot of time in the back seat, something like 10+ hours. It was super comfortable back there the whole way. I’m about 5’ 10”, so I’m not the tallest person out there, but I do have knee issues that usually start to act up in a cramped car trip. I had plenty of room in the back seat, and even behind our tallest driver I had a about a fist’s width of room, which was just fine. The seats themselves were comfortable as well. Not once in our 14+ round trip did I have any back pain at all!
