The Wayzata Chilly Open has been a winter staple since 1984 on Lake Minnetonka, and this year is no different. So what is the Wayzata Chilly Open? It’s golfing on a frozen lake in February in the heart of Minnesota. Drawing over 1,700 golfers through three 9-hole courses, that’s just a single part of what makes the Wayzata Chilly Open so great. The theme for 2019 is Wayzata Bay Speedway which is right up our alley so again this year we’ll be sponsoring and hanging out on one of the courses.
When is it? Saturday, February 9, 2019
Where is it? Lake Minnetonka
Can I go if I’m not golfing? Since this is a fundraiser event, you need a ticket to join in on the fun.
But is there chili? Of course! There will be over 10 restaurants competing for best chili.
Trust us, it’s a fun way to spend a winter afternoon and we suggest gathering up your friends if you haven’t already to make a team. All the proceeds go to putting on the event and then the rest goes to the Wayzata Chamber of Commerce. It’s right in our backyard and we always support the people that support us, so we wanted to return again to the Wayzata Chilly Open.
Not only is it great to support a great cause, but we get to interact with the people and that’s really awesome. When you have someone come up and yell, “I bought my last three cars from Morrie’s!” that’s always amazing to hear. Building the course is always something that obviously takes time, but seeing the reactions is totally worth it. We’ve got some big plans this year since the theme is perfect for us, and we couldn’t be any happier about it.
