Test Drive to win!
If you live in the Twin Cities there’s no doubt you have heard of 101.3 KDWB. In that case, you’ve probably heard all the buzz surrounding their annual VIP party, Star Party. This year they are bringing in some of the hottest acts yet, including Jason Derulo, B.O.B, Time Flies Ed Sheeran and Rixton! We are VERY excited to announce that tomorrow, Wednesday May 14th, KDWB’s Steve-O will be joining us at Morrie’s Minnetonka KIA for a live broadcast! Everyone that stops by and test-drives during this time qualifies for a chance to win tickets to KDWB’S star party! You will also qualify for a B.O.B meet and greet! Once you test drive, your name will be entered into a drawing where we will choose a number of different winners.
But don’t worry, that’s not your only chance to win. We will also be LIVE at Star Party handing out Morrie’s Sunglasses and giving you the oppertunity to win Jason Derulo meet and greet passes! If you are one of the lucky Minnesotan’s to score tickets to the hottest party of the year, make sure to find our KIA Soul on display and tweet a picture of it with the hashtag #kiastarparty. One lucky individual will be chosen and will be on their way to meet Jason Derulo, it could be you!
We will see you at Morrie’s Minnetonka KIA tomorrow between 4-6pm for your chance to win!
We just got word this afternoon that Mazda Chairman and former CEO, Takashi Yamanouchi, will retire from his role as former CEO and Chairman of the Mazda Motor Company. Beginning with Mazda back in 1967, Yamanouchi advanced within the company and by 1996 was named to the company’s board of directors. In 2008 he became CEO and stayed in this position until just last year when he passed the reigns down to Masamichi Kogai and focused his efforts on the responsibilities of the company’s chairman. After 47 successful years of working with the Mazda Corporation, Takashi is retiring at the age of 69.
Throughout Yamanouchi’s time with Mazda, the company flourished. Introducing the all-new SKYACTIV technology and the development of the company’s signature KODO design language. Seita Kanai will take over as chairman beginning on June 24th after the company’s upcoming annual general meeting of shareholders on June 24th.
Today we kicked off our first Teen Driving School event in partnership with BIR Performance Driving School in an effort to teach teens the skills they need when acquiring a drivers license. The Driving Defense Program was held at the National Sports Center and was the first test run at an event that we will be offering regularly this summer. The program is designed to help young drivers to feel comfortable and confident when behind the wheel by teaching them the advanced techniques they need to become safe, responsible drivers.
Here’s a quick break down of the program and what it entails:
Teens will attend Classroom instruction and in-car exercises (in their own car) and those will include the following:
Fundamental vehicle dynamics and knowing the limits of your car
Emergency and threshold braking including ABS activation
Emergency lane change maneuvers
Skidpad exercises and traction loss
Distracted driving exercises simulating texting and driving under the influence
Combined skills course
A few of our teen drivers at the National Sports Center today!
If you are interested in our Summer Defensive Driving Program please contact us at 952-797-1336. We look forward to hearing from you!
Last month at the New York International Auto show Ford unveiled their beautiful 50th anniversary edition mustang to a very excited crowd. (Check out the footage on our Facebook page below.)
Empire State Building & The 2015 Mustang
They built excitement and anticipation by also pulling off a stunt that has not been performed in over 50 years when the first Mustang was released. The company decided to create buzz with the new Mustang by putting it atop the Empire State Building, just like they did back in 1964. You may wonder, how did they get the Mustang up there? They actually had a team to cut the car into small enough pieces where they could bring it up 86 floors to the top.
50th Anniversary Edition Mustang Convertible
Fast forward a month and Ford has just announced that they will be auctioning off a one-off 50th anniversary edition convertible. The vehicle will raffled off at Woodward’s Dream Cruise on August 16th and all proceeds will benefit the National MS Society. This convertible will be the same Wimbledon White as we saw in New York and will feature a chrome-accented grille and tail-lamps, aluminum dash trim, two-tone black and beige interior leather seats and 19-spoke wheels. If you are interested in attending the raffle, to be held in Southeast Michigan, you will need to purchase a ticket which run $20.00 a piece from Ford Motor Company while supplies last. Ford says “this will be the only 2015 Mustang convertible built with a performance pack to include Pirelli P Zero summer tires, Brembo six-piston painted front brake calipers, and a limited-slip differential.” We look forward to seeing the 2015 Mustang 50th Anniversary Edition Coupe on our show floors this summer!

For those of you who suffer from asthma or allergies to dust, bacteria, mold or pollen, you may notice that your symptoms worsen when you are riding in vehicles. This is due to the fact that the carbon air filter, your vehicles ventilation system, is dirty, meaning it cannot ensure that the air inside of the vehicle is free of pollutants. These air filters become ineffective when they are full or particles so we suggest replacing yours periodically to ensure good air quality at all times. It’s a good idea to replace dirty air cabin filters around every 12 months or 15,000 miles as part of regular vehicle maintenance. You can also check the recommended mileage to change the filter for your vehicle in your owner’s manual. To schedule your cabin air filter replacement today, give us a call or stop by any Morrie’s location!
As many of you already noticed, we make it a point to head to all the major auto shows in the country and we just got back from the New York International Auto show where we got coverage of all the latest KIA models for you.
Kia’s big debut wasn’t for the K900 at NYIAS, but rather the Sedona, which truly impressed us with its redesigned interior & exterior. The Sedona will be Kia’s first model to offer Geo-fencing, Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, and Driving Score. Although the Sedona was a big hit, we want to stay focused on the K900 and share a few pictures we captured of this beautiful sedan that was on display.
After seeing the K900 in person, we know that this gorgeous vehicle will bring big changes for Kia in the luxury segment. Check out some of the photos we took of the sedan while at the New York Auto Show. Make sure to stay tuned to the Morrie’s Minnetonka KIA Facebook page and website to be the first to know when the K900 lands here at Morrie’s!
