It’s been awhile since we’ve been to the Chicago Auto Show, but seeing as how it’s the biggest show in our (sort of) backyard, we figured we’d make a road trip out of it and go check out the Windy City for a couple days. Thanks to our friends at Morrie’s Luxury Auto, we had a gassed up 2017 Maserati Ghibli to get us across Wisconsin and to McCormick Place, home of the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. More >
Having a clean car has many advantages – and that’s why here at Morrie’s, we offer lifetime unlimited car washes as one of our Buy Happy Promises. There are many suggestions on how, when, and why you should wash your car…and there isn’t really a correct answer, but rather, a few things to consider:
So… We skipped the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this year. It’s a fun show but it turns Detroit into a complete circus. Hotels are few and far between, flights are expensive, and the weather sucks. So we just said “screw it” and decided to road trip out to Chicago next month for the next big auto show on the calendar. Personally, I’m a little bummed we didn’t go this year. There are a lot of exciting cars that have been unveiled this week that we weren’t there to see, but hey, hindsight is 20/20, right?
So instead of showing you our coverage of the show, we’re going to be borrowing stories from all of our favorite automotive news sites and giving you our thoughts on the coolest unveilings in Motor City this year.
Any Minnesotan worth their salt knows that Murphy’s Law is in full effect during the winter months: anything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Frequently, this manifests itself in the form of automotive issues, which can range from something as simple as your car not starting for your evening commute, all the way to hitting a patch of black ice and sliding into the ditch during your evening commute. Both of these things will probably make you late for dinner (Although you have a better chance of avoiding the latter if your vehicle is outfitted with winter tires. Read more on that here).
A surgeon’s scalpel is the perfect tool for performing surgeries but you wouldn’t use it for cutting down a tree or cutting the crust off of your sandwich. Similarly, you wouldn’t use a chainsaw in the operating room. You need the right tools for the job, just like you need the right kind of tires for the season.
It seem like a no-brainer, but the key to any successful endeavor is being prepared. When going out in the winter you should always be prepared for cold, for snow and for ice. If you don’t have a winter car kit assembled you should definitely put one together. This video outlines what should be included in your winter car kit.
Another day in LA, another post full of photos. The big highlight of Day 2 was seeing Subaru pull the wraps off of their new 7-passenger SUV concept. Bigger than anything they’ve ever built before, we’re looking forward to seeing it in production trim next year before it launches in 2018. The rest of the day was spent soaking in some of the details at each booth, as well as trying to capture the scale some of the booths of a big auto show like this.
We’re on the scene in Los Angeles, CA this week during the media days of the LA Auto Show. With so many new reveals and beautiful cars from wall to wall, we figured we should distill things down and bring you the coolest stuff we saw on Day One. Make sure to check back tomorrow to see more, and stop by our Youtube channel for videos of all the important cars from the show as well!
Weather you like it or not, winter is coming. Driving in winter conditions is the bane of many peoples’ existence, but odds are that you are going to have to go out in the cold and snow no matter how much you want to avoid it. When you do finally brave the outdoors, you probably prepare with a jacket, boots, gloves and a hat – but it’s just as important to take some time to prepare your car for the long winter ahead. These tips will not only make the winter more tolerable, but ensure your car is tip-top shape through the frigid months.
Ford had one of the coolest booths this year at the 2016 SEMA show and we wanted to share all the amazing Ford’s we found during our time at the show. If you are unaware of SEMA it’s, “the premier automotive specialty products trade event in the world. It draws the industry’s brightest minds and hottest products to one place, the Las Vegas Convention Center.” We spent two days wandering around the show and if you’ve never been it’s impossible to explain the sheer size of the show. The grounds of the venue are massive and after walking around 21 miles we still didn’t see the entire show! The Mustang and Focus RS had to be some of the most popular vehicles to modify this year at the show, and we found no shortage of them wherever we went.
