Mazda Chairman Takashi Yamanouchi to Retire

We just got word this afternoon that Mazda Chairman and former CEO, Takashi Yamanouchi, will retire from his role as former CEO and Chairman of the Mazda Motor Company. Beginning with Mazda back in 1967, Yamanouchi advanced within the company and by 1996 was named to the company’s board of directors. In 2008 he became CEO and stayed in this position until just last year when he passed the reigns down to Masamichi Kogai and focused his efforts on the responsibilities of the company’s chairman. After 47 successful years of working with the Mazda Corporation, Takashi is retiring at the age of 69.

Throughout Yamanouchi’s time with Mazda, the company flourished. Introducing the all-new SKYACTIV technology and the development of the company’s signature KODO design language. Seita Kanai will take over as chairman beginning on June 24th after the company’s upcoming annual general meeting of shareholders on June 24th.
