It was around this time last year that we decided to give back to the local community by partnering with the Salvation Army to organize the first ever Buy Happy Backpack Roundup. In doing so, we challenged our staff, customers, vendors and community members to donate backpacks to children in need. For every backpack donated, we pledged $10 worth of school supplies with a goal of 1,000 backpacks.
Simply put, the outpouring of generosity demonstrated over the course of the Roundup left us absolutely speechless. After it was all said and done we collected over 4,000 backpacks, more than quadrupling what we thought was a lofty goal. That’s over 4,000 children who walked into their first day of school with something that many of us took for granted – a backpack full of supplies to help further their education.
This year we’re back at it again, and we hope to have your assistance in getting the word out by having your friends and families come together as a community to help those less fortunate than ourselves. This years Buy Happy Backpack Roundup will run from July 27th through September 7th, with backpack drop-offs at every Morrie’s location.
