If you didn’t know that our very own Scott Putnam of Minnetonka Subaru was a rally co-driver of a 2013 Subaru WRX STI, maybe Travis Pastrana, David Higgins and Lauchlin O’Sullivan coming to town was a friendly reminder. The Subaru Rally Team USA drivers and crew stopped by our dealership to show off their amazing rally Subaru’s and mingle with some fans. It was a fun filled night that also played host to an all Subaru car show, and plenty of food and snacks for all. The best part, Travis, David & Lauchlin put down some lap times in Dirt 3 and had anyone who dared challenge them see if they could beat their best times! If you want to check out all these cars first hand running full-out in a rally event this weekend, head up to Detroit Lakes, MN for the Ojibwe Forests Rally! Check out the videos below for a recap of the event and an interview with Travis Pastrana!
Since I was old enough to remember the Minnesota State Fair was just something that meant the Summer was about to end, and school was soon to be back in session. Now that I’m a little bit older, and questionably smarter, I’ve continued to go to the State Fair because as a true Minnesotan, it’s my duty. A duty because of what you see, smell, feel, discover, un-discover quickly while it’s stuck to your shoe, and so on. Around 2 million people go to the fair during it’s two week span, so what I wanted to do is put together a guide to make sure you don’t miss anything while you’re there. So sit down, strap in and let’s begin!
Adult Night at the Zoo - Thursday, August 18th
Sure it’s great to take the kids to the Minnesota Zoo and watch them experience all the animals, but half the time they are just running away and you aren’t able to see anything for yourself. Well, now is your chance to see all the animals during adult night at the zoo. You can even grab a drink and some food while you’re there and experience a special keeper talk at 6:30 & 7:30 p.m. at the Lakeside Terrace about different animals.
I’m fairly certain that Morrie’s has written a few blogs about Road America and the surround area and rightfully so. Road America and the surrounding area are filled with motorsports history dating back to the first road race held on the village streets and surrounding roads in 1950. The on track action is golden; just search YouTube for “Road America Finish” and you’ll see what I mean. Recently the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar series showed up along with the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, Porsche GT3 Cup series and the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series. Often called “America’s National Park of Speed”, Road America provides of the most scenic views of any racetrack.
It was a fantastic day for the August edition of MN C&C and of course, we had to bring out some really special cars. Hopefully everyone stopped by our booth and grabbed some water or a pair of sunglasses and checked out the gorgeous Bentley Continental GT3-R, the new McLaren 570S, the MHCC VW Thing, and everything else we brought to the show. We’ll be looking forward to MN C&C again in September and hope to see you there!
Have you ever wondered what would happen is cars were allowed to compete at the Olympics instead of just athletes? No? Just us?
Well humor us anyway and keep reading to see which vehicles we’d pick to be apart of #TeamMorries in the 2016 Automotive Olympic games!
Name: Nissan GTR Nismo
Sport: 100M Sprint
Hometown: Kaminokawa, Tochigi, Japan
- Accelerated from 0-60 MPH in 2.9 seconds during Car and Driver testing
- 1/4-Mile in 11.2 seconds
- Held Nurburgring Production Car lap record at 7:08.679
The Nissan GTR Nismo has been on a strict diet, and focusing as much on raw speed as agility. The GTR Nismo is a true rising star in the world of Track and Field and should be a strong contender for multiple gold medals in the 2016 Automotive Olympics.
Victoria Classic Car Night – Wednesday, August 3rd
This Wednesday night hundreds of classic cars will descend on downtown Victoria, Minnesota, for Victoria Classic Car Night. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – this show is a great reason to get out during the middle of the week and see an eclectic mix of cars that you might not see at your typical show. It’s looking like it will be a hot one weather wise, so I recommend bringing a convertible.
