In addition to a slew of sports cars and other expensive sheetmetal, the New York International Auto Show played host to the launch of no less than half a dozen SUVs and crossovers. Indeed, with gas prices sinking and road trip season upon us, the time is right to show off all of the big family-hauling adventure-mobiles. So let’s take a look at some of our favorite cars, trucks, and SUVs that debuted at the NYIAS this year, or were at least new to us.
Ahhh. Spring is in the air and new cars are starting to hit the streets. So what better place to see all the latest and greatest vehicles coming our way this summer and beyond than at the New York International Auto Show? Luckily for us, Javits Center is just the place for us to get up close and personal with all of the latest models from Ford, Nissan, Subaru, Mazda, Cadillac, and many, many more. Some highlights of the show included Nissan’s Rogue Dogue, which featured a dog-friendly ramp as well as an onboard grooming station for your favorite pups, as well as Lincoln’s production version of the long-awaited Navigator that not only looked stunning but packs a serious punch with a 450-hp Ecoboost V6 borrowed from the Ford Raptor under the elegant hood. It seems NYIAS was a very SUV-intensive show this year, giving us our first look at the Subaru Ascent concept, a 7-seater SUV that was first teased in Los Angeles last year as the VIZIV-7 styling exercise. On the sportier side of things, Cadillac brought out their DPi-V.R. race car that has swept the first three races of the year in the IMSA series, including the 24 Hours of Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring, and the recent Long Beach Grand Prix.
It’s time for the 44th annual Twin Cities Auto Show this March 11th – 19th at the Minneapolis Convention Center. During the show you can compare more than 575 vehicles from 37 foreign and domestic brands all in one place. After spending road tripping out to Chicago for the 2017 Chicago Auto Show in a brand new Maserati Ghibli, we couldn’t help but wonder what other cars on the show floor would make great road trip vehicles. We loved the Ghibli for its ability to gobble up long stretches of highway and tight, twisty roads with ease, but depending on your situation, there might be even better options out there. So we figured we’d break down our coverage of the show into a list of our best road trip vehicles based on different possible adventures or goals.
With so much eye candy at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show, we couldn’t help but take a peek at all the cool stuff on display from some of the other brands we don’t currently sell at Morrie’s. There’s such a wide range of cars, trucks, SUVs, and just about every other vehicle segment you can imagine on display in the massive McCormick Place convention center that it’s an all-day adventure to see it all. But we did just that, and after a couple of days at the show, we picked up on a few interesting trends:
It’s been awhile since we’ve been to the Chicago Auto Show, but seeing as how it’s the biggest show in our (sort of) backyard, we figured we’d make a road trip out of it and go check out the Windy City for a couple days. Thanks to our friends at Morrie’s Luxury Auto, we had a gassed up 2017 Maserati Ghibli to get us across Wisconsin and to McCormick Place, home of the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. More >
So… We skipped the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this year. It’s a fun show but it turns Detroit into a complete circus. Hotels are few and far between, flights are expensive, and the weather sucks. So we just said “screw it” and decided to road trip out to Chicago next month for the next big auto show on the calendar. Personally, I’m a little bummed we didn’t go this year. There are a lot of exciting cars that have been unveiled this week that we weren’t there to see, but hey, hindsight is 20/20, right?
So instead of showing you our coverage of the show, we’re going to be borrowing stories from all of our favorite automotive news sites and giving you our thoughts on the coolest unveilings in Motor City this year.
Another day in LA, another post full of photos. The big highlight of Day 2 was seeing Subaru pull the wraps off of their new 7-passenger SUV concept. Bigger than anything they’ve ever built before, we’re looking forward to seeing it in production trim next year before it launches in 2018. The rest of the day was spent soaking in some of the details at each booth, as well as trying to capture the scale some of the booths of a big auto show like this.
We’re on the scene in Los Angeles, CA this week during the media days of the LA Auto Show. With so many new reveals and beautiful cars from wall to wall, we figured we should distill things down and bring you the coolest stuff we saw on Day One. Make sure to check back tomorrow to see more, and stop by our Youtube channel for videos of all the important cars from the show as well!
Hyundai had a massive presence this year at the 2016 SEMA show and we wanted to share all the cool Hyundai’s we found during our time at the show. If you are unaware of SEMA it’s, “the premier automotive specialty products trade event in the world. It draws the industry’s brightest minds and hottest products to one place, the Las Vegas Convention Center.” We spent two days wandering around the show and if you’ve never been it’s impossible to explain the sheer size of the show. The grounds of the venue are massive and after walking around 21 miles we still didn’t see the entire show!
