January means a lot of things to a lot of different people. While most folks don’t necessarily equate the frigid temperatures and icy roads with shiny, fast cars, car people like us know that there’s no better time for the North American International Auto Show, which takes place in Motor City itself: Detroit.
Although January might not be the best time to visit Detroit, we make sure to attend so we can bring back all the latest news from all the major auto manufacturers represented at the show. Since Monday kicked off the start of the media days for the 2015 North American International Auto Show, we thought we’d share some highlights and show you some of the most beautiful and interesting vehicles from the show floor.
While plenty of people know all about Subaru’s rally heritage, the company has plenty of track experience too. Now, for 2015, Subaru debuted a race-prepped 2015 Subaru WRX STI in advance of the 2015 Nurburgring 24 Hour Race at the Tokyo Auto Salon. While no doubt highly modified, Subaru chose not to elaborate much on what the racing modifications included beyond beefed up brakes, sticky race tires, and the obligatory roll cage.
Alongside the racy STI, Subaru also rolled out a super low, super wide, Japanese Super GT-spec BRZ. Built to fit within the GT300 class of the Japanese Super GT Series, this lean and mean BRZ should offer a great platform to go racing.
In either case, it looks like 2015 is going to be a busy year for the Subaru factory racing teams!
If a picture speaks a thousand words, a video must speak a million..
We had an absolute blast covering the Los Angeles Auto Show last week – but then again, how could we not? Amazing weather, stunning cars and some very exciting vehicle reveals were all on tap in sunny California, and even though we had to spend most of our time indoors there was plenty to keep us busy. Close to 15 hours of filming and around 10 hours of editing over the course of two days allowed us to post 16 videos before the show was closed on Thursday. We even managed to get out and see a little bit of Hollywood before being shipped back to the frozen tundra – check out our video for a behind-the-scenes peek!
As many of you already noticed, we make it a point to head to all the major auto shows in the country and we just got back from the New York International Auto show where we got coverage of all the latest KIA models for you.
Kia’s big debut wasn’t for the K900 at NYIAS, but rather the Sedona, which truly impressed us with its redesigned interior & exterior. The Sedona will be Kia’s first model to offer Geo-fencing, Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, and Driving Score. Although the Sedona was a big hit, we want to stay focused on the K900 and share a few pictures we captured of this beautiful sedan that was on display.
After seeing the K900 in person, we know that this gorgeous vehicle will bring big changes for Kia in the luxury segment. Check out some of the photos we took of the sedan while at the New York Auto Show. Make sure to stay tuned to the Morrie’s Minnetonka KIA Facebook page and website to be the first to know when the K900 lands here at Morrie’s!
Day 2 at the 2014 NY International Auto Show
We had another full day at the Javits center bringing you live coverage from the New York International Auto Show. We’ve been busy shooting plenty of video footage to share with you, so make sure to head over to our YouTube page, or just click on the playlist below to see what we’ve been up to!
A majority of the reveals that we have shared with you took place on day 1 here at the NY Auto Show, but Subaru made us wait until the very end to see what they had in store. The morning was spent anticipating the reveal of the 2015 Subaru Outback, but it was well worth the wait. Subaru never disappoints when it comes to their press conferences and this one was no different. The Outback was first revealed at the New York Auto show as a concept 20 years ago and it has come a long way since. The refreshed wagon gets an updated interior that adds a bit of class to the cabin. The exterior also gets a refresh with a wider, hexagonal grille and a sleek new design. Subaru’s EyeSight Assist technology is also an added safety feature available on this model giving you peace of mind behind the wheel.
Subaru didn’t leave it at that, they also surprised us with the 2015 WRX STi Global Rallycross car! From what we hear, a stage rally version is currently in the works and should be released later this year with Travis Pastrana and David Higgins as pilots for the Subaru Rally Team USA in the Rally America Championship. Here at Morrie’s, rallying is close to our heart due to our own Scott Putnam’s involvement as a Subaru rally co-driver. Keep your eye out on this one, it should be fun to watch!
There’s always a lot going on at the various Auto Show’s we visit but this was the first time we’ve encountered a robot, a manicure booth and a full lineup of Mustang pinball machines. We made sure to capture all of the fun and interesting elements of the auto show to share with you, so make sure to check out all of our photos in the album below.
Morrie’s is proud to be the only MN dealer to bring you exclusive coverage from Auto Show’s across the United States throughout the year. Make sure to subscribe to our YouTube page and follow us on Instagram and Twitter | @morriesauto |
It was only a matter of time before the Ford Focus got the Aston Martin-esque front end treatment. The sharp looking grill debuted on the new Fusion last year and has moved up along the ranks, most recently revealed on the 2015 Mustang.
Aside from the noticeable changes upfront, the new Focus also gets re-shaped headlights more akin to those on the Focus ST. It also gets interior updates including version 2.0 of Ford’s Sync system, which promises to be more intuitive and pack more useable feature.
Ford also claims that the new Focus will offer a more comfortable and quiet ride. Obviously suspension and chassis improvements will make this happen, but Ford was rather ambiguous when it comes to details. We’re sure we’ll learn more as the year progresses.
Subaru first introduced us to the VIZIV concept last year in Geneva and it returned again this year in more production ready trim as the VIZIV 2. If you’re like me you’re wondering what VIZIV stands for —- Subaru says it stands for “Vision of Innovation.”
The concept represents what Subaru’s future hybrid crossover might look like. In typical Subaru tradition the VIZIV 2 a 1.6 liter turbocharged boxer four cylinder and in the spirit of efficiency it is coupled to a plug-in three motor hybrid system. Of course it wouldn’t be a Subaru (BRZ excluded) if it didn’t have symmetrical all wheel drive.
Since it last bowed it has sprouted two additional doors, certainly a nod to consumer demanded utility, and more production ready headlights. Front end styling aligns with that of the recently debuted 2015 Subaru Legacy.
The word on the auto show circuit is that the VIZIV 2 will replace the previous Tribeca crossover. It is unknown when or if this crossover concept will make it to production. If you like what you see and want to get updates, reach out to Morrie’s Brooklyn Park or Minnetonka Subaru.

Today was the second press day at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and we were busy getting live coverage to share with you! We finally got the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the hottest new vehicles from all over the world. Make sure to check out our photo album below and our YouTube playlist with tons of model overview videos!
Our first stop this morning was the Subaru press conference where they unveiled the highly anticipated 2015 Subaru WRX STi. This Rally bred sports sedan features a 2.5 Liter Boxer Four cylinder, producing 300 horsepower and 290 lbs/ft. of torque. Subaru promises more speed, better handling, tighter suspension and a high-performance braking system. We know our Subaru fans are just as excited as we are about this one, but sit tight, we don’t expect to see one on show floors until next year!
Following the Subaru press conference, we hightailed it over to Cadillac where they were unveiling the 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe! The ATS coupe is the brand’s first compact two-door coupe yet and it did not disappoint. As you would expect, the ATS coupe shares the same wheelbase and platform as the ATS sedan, but with a widened track in the front and rear and an aluminum construction making it the lightest car in its segment. You could feel the excitement in the crowd as Cadillac entertained us with a youthful and upbeat reveal for this hot new coupe. Exterior changes to the ATS coupe include a wider, more aggressive looking grille, and a brand new crest! The new Cadillac crest has only been worn on one other non-production model, the El miraj concept before being unveiled on the ATS coupe today. Cadillac explained the new crest as representing the the purity of Cadillac and the new lower, leaner, meaner design. The ATS coupe is powered by an increased 2.0 liter turbocharged four or a 3.6 liter V6, available in rear wheel or all-wheel drive, as well as a 6-speed manual option. Keep your eye out for the ATS Coupe on Morrie’s Cadillac show floors!
Although previously revealed during an online debut, the 2015 Cadillac Escalade still created a lot of buzz at this year’s auto show in Detroit. This was the first time we were able to get an up close look at the vehicle so make sure to check out our photos in the album below.
