While Day 1 at the 2016 New York International Auto Show was packed to the gills with all sorts of major reveals, there were only a handful by comparison on Day 2. This left us with more time to wander the showfloor and see anything we missed in the chaos on Day 1 while also making sure to see what had just been revealed. For instance, we couldn’t keep ourselves away from the rows of supercars where we saw a Bugatti, a Spyker, and two brand new Koenigseggs on the stand. The same was true for the Porsche stand which drew us in with the rare and beautiful 911R and the new 718 Boxster S. We also got to spend a little more time with the Maserati Levante, where we checked out the gorgeous Zegna-trimmed interior (it’s pretty dang nice!)
We also circled back to Genesis – Hyundai’s new luxury brand – to check out their New York Concept vehicle that we ought to see hit the compact luxury sedan segment in the next couple of years. Although this was very much a style exercise for the show, Genesis already had a list of drivetrain specs as well as a beautifully designed interior, although it’s unlikely many of the interior details (like the 21-in curved 4K display from LG on top of the dash) will make it to production.
We’re out here at the 2016 North American International Auto Show here in Detroit, MI this week and it surely didn’t disappoint. Day 1 is usually chock full of big reveals and included the updated Ford Fusion, including a 325 HP, AWD Sport model we’re excited about, as well as Raptor-fighting Nissan Titan “Warrior” Concept truck which looked awesome. We also Hyundai spin off it’s luxury brand Genesis with the new Genesis G90 to replace the Equus, while the G80 takes over the original Genesis sedan in the new lineup. Other notable debuts from Monday included the new BMW M2, a 365 hp small sedan, Volkswagen’s Tiguan GTE Concept that looked just as ready to tackle the Dakar Rally as it did the shopping mall, Porsche unveiled the new 911 Turbo and Turbo S, Buick debuted a surprisingly gorgeous 400 hp coupe based on the Camaro, and Lexus rolled out the LC500 and LC-FC, the former is a shockingly beautiful production-ready sports coupe with a 467 hp V8 while the latter is an elegant hybrid sedan. For us, the highlights of the show was actually the production-ready version of the incredible Ford GT that we saw debut here in concept form last year, and the new MX-5 Speedster concept that Mazda rolled out at SEMA this past November. But enough from us, take a look at the photos below and tell us which cars you like! We’ll be back tomorrow to recap Day 2 of the 2016 North American International Auto Show.
I spent my week driving and riding around in the new 2014 Cadillac ATS and the only word that comes to mind is ‘wow.’ This isn’t grandpa’s old 73′ Coupe Deville anymore. Between the Touchscreen CUE system and lane departure warning that vibrates the seat when you accidentally leave your lane, this car was more than I could imagine. The all wheel drive isn’t exactly a new thing for Cadillac but within a few short years they have this car nailed down to how a sport sedan should drive. With the 3.6L or the 2.0 turbo version there is no shortage of get up and go or fun to be had on the open road – the ATS almost seems to anticipate acceleration and responds beautifully. The interior is, of course, classic Cadillac luxury. Hand stitching, leather and sleek styling abound inside the ATS, giving you the difficult choice between going fast for the sake of speed, or taking your time and cruising in comfort. If you’re looking for a new sedan that provides luxury, comfort and style I would highly suggest you run not walk to Morrie’s Cadillac and drive the ATS today.
As many of you already noticed, we make it a point to head to all the major auto shows in the country and we just got back from the New York International Auto show where we got coverage of all the latest KIA models for you.
Kia’s big debut wasn’t for the K900 at NYIAS, but rather the Sedona, which truly impressed us with its redesigned interior & exterior. The Sedona will be Kia’s first model to offer Geo-fencing, Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, and Driving Score. Although the Sedona was a big hit, we want to stay focused on the K900 and share a few pictures we captured of this beautiful sedan that was on display.
After seeing the K900 in person, we know that this gorgeous vehicle will bring big changes for Kia in the luxury segment. Check out some of the photos we took of the sedan while at the New York Auto Show. Make sure to stay tuned to the Morrie’s Minnetonka KIA Facebook page and website to be the first to know when the K900 lands here at Morrie’s!
It was a real treat trading in my 2000 Chevrolet Impala for a fully loaded 2014 Kia Forte for 24-hours this past weekend. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I can truly say it was a delight to drive this sporty new sedan. I enjoyed it so much; I didn’t want to return the keys.
The 2014 Kia Forte is a great fit for younger drivers looking for a safe and attractive compact sedan with all the bells and whistles for an affordable price. Features that I got to enjoy included air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity, a USB input and power windows and locks. But you can expect to find all of those standard features on the base model in the Kia Forte. The EX model that I had the pleasure of driving also included a power sunroof, push button start, a six speaker audio system, cruise control, fog lights, remote keyless entry, power mirrors and the updated generation of the Kia UVO system.
This fully loaded Kia Forte was equipped with a 2.0-liter engine allowing the vehicle to achieve 173 horsepower and 154 lb/ft of torque, and believe me; you can feel the power in this vehicle when you’re cruising around town.
The handling on the new Forte was extremely impressive thanks to the all-new electrically assisted steering capability, which allowed me to be in complete control of the vehicle at all times. The braking and acceleration were also an upgrade for me, as the response time from action to delivery was much quicker than what I was used to in my Impala. All in all, I felt safe and in control while behind the wheel of the 2014 Forte.
If you are considering the purchase of the 2013 Toyota Corolla, we think you would also be interested to learn a little bit more about the 2013 Hyundai Sonata. Here at Morrie’s we want to be sure you find the car that best fits your needs and make sure that you Buy Happy.
The 2013 Hyundai Sonata is a great fit if you are looking for a stylish, fuel efficient, and spacious midsize sedan. This vehicle offers both great standard and optional features, is stylish and comfortable, achieves great fuel economy, and was named Most Dependable Midsize Sedan in its class by JD Power & Associates.
