Test Drive: 2014 Ford Focus

Titanium Edition

2014 Ford Focus

I was given the privilege of driving a brand new 2014 Ford Focus Titanium edition for a few days this past week and it was certainly something anyone would enjoy. Before you even get into the car you can forget about fumbling for your keys to unlock the door. The touch sensitive entry system and push button start are two things that really make life easy once you have them. The leather seats in the car are spot on for road trips or just cruising around the city. They make you feel relaxed, at ease and comfortable and with the heated leather they can help make those Minnesota winters more tolerable.

Once you start driving the car you notice that it’s quiet, like really quiet inside. Minnesota is known for having some terrible pothole filled roads and being in the thick of pothole season I had no problem with potentially jarring my teeth loose cruising around. My phone connected up to the MyFord Touch and the Sync System plus the Sony stereo system immediately starting playing Pandora on my favorite station. I was hesitant that the voice activation wouldn’t be able to recognize my voice because I’ll be the first to admit I mumble, bad. Sync really didn’t have any issues at all which was nice for changing the climate, radio stations or making calls by name.

The overall best part had to be the fuel economy. The 2 liter 4 cylinder with the ecoboost was getting insanely good fuel economy. I drove around for about an hour and the distance to empty range went from 167 miles left to 165 left. I know that can be taken with a bit of hesitation but I believe with just city driving I was somewhere in the 30-32 mpg range. I was certainly not use to getting such good mileage and that was a very welcomed change.

I would have to say that if I was in the market for a compact sedan I would head over to Morrie’s Minnetonka or Buffalo Ford and at the bare minimum take one for a spin. Not to mention the fact that I wouldn’t be paying for car washes for the rest of my car ownership isn’t such a bad deal either.
