Why I Love Working Saturdays

I can honestly say I wasn’t incredibly enthusiastic when my boss told me I was working a Saturday shift. I mean, who would be? However, it turned out to be one of my favorite work days of the whole summer.

Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to attend Make-A-Wish Minnesota‘s annual Walk for Wishes. The fundraiser consisted of a 5k walk or run on the trails near Minnehaha Falls and a fundraiser to help grant wishes to kids in Minnesota facing critical illnesses. This year’s participants helped raise an astounding $87,538!

The event is a blast for all ages. There were couples, families, companies (like Team Morrie’s sporting our traditional blue and green), and plenty of puppies who marched around the falls! Not only was the venue beautiful, Make-A-Wish MN made the day extra special by providing additional entertainment as well. There were face painters and glitter tattoos, balloon animals, a hilarious photo booth, and yard games for the kids to enjoy. I even got a picture with some Disney Princesses! The snacks were scrumptious as well. There was water, crackers, chips, granola bars and fruit for all the participants as well as vendors such as PopChips and Go Go Squeeze who were giving out free samples. Needless to say, no bellies were left growling!

The day was a blast, I am so thankful and proud to work for a company that sponsors such thoughtful and life touching charities and encourages giving back.
